It might not seem possible that a 3-year old could save a man’s life, I mean their too small to perform the Heimlich maneuver, and not nearly strong enough for CPR, so what gives? I’ll tell you what gives. Since my 3-year old daughter decided to incarnate into this world she has saved her fathers life. Not my any of the techniques mentioned earlier, but simply by being herself. By simply being herself she has made her father want to be a better man and this has saved his life.

You see, before she incarnated into this world and even before she was living with Dad full time, I took it upon myself to drink, and not just have a drink after work, but rather to drink myself to sleep most nights. I also took it upon myself to choke down cancer sticks like it was some sort of game. Then, when I found out she was going to be living with me, I simply couldn’t see myself doing these things any longer. All of the sudden, these practices that had consumed my life for over a decade, seemed stupid and mundane. I simply wasn’t going to be a bad example for my daughter. Not me, other people can do whatever they like, but I just wasn’t.

So I stopped both practices. Did this save my life, really? As I look back, there’s no doubt in my mind that this is the case. As a matter of fact I’ve come to a very strong knowing that my daughter decided to come to this earth when she did. I truly believe that she came here to save me from myself. There’s no doubt that children teach the parents every bit as much as we teach them.
